Jonas and Tatjana are the best in the business! After watching countless wedding videos, none of them captured the emotion and pure joy that they do. Jonas and Tatjana are two incredibly talented humans. They worked very hard with us prior to our wedding to make sure our needs were being met. The day of the wedding they made sure to capture every special moment. And the end result seemed like I was watching an Oscar nominated movie! I felt very fortunate to have Jonas and Tatjana!

Should I have a
Micro-Wedding or an Elopement?
Here are the six key differences.
Elopements
1. Elopements are structured around the sun, lighting, weather, and your will to elope. Overall, you'll feel more grounded in a natural environment.
2. You're spending 95% of your time with us, unless you bring your dog and a trusted friend/family member as an assistant.
3. Lots of "congratulations" from fellow travelers in the wild.
4. Your energy is focused more on your significant other and getting up a giant boulder in a dang dress!
5. Your venue is at a freakin' national or state park! We'll follow the local rules, but let loose and capture some magic with your lover.
6. Elopements throw the "rulebook" away, allowing you to create new traditions that actually feel like you.

Micro-Weddings
1. Micro-weddings are smaller in nature—an intimate family gathering from both sides of less than 10 guests.
2. A typical micro-wedding involves us capturing getting-ready, (first look), the ceremony, family photos, and the couple's photos only.
3. Much like elopements, micro-weddings are emotional events. In our experience, emotions are heightened when friends, family, and guests are present. You'll feel their energy in the room.
4. There's more coordination involved with the family, such as when to be ready, ceremony site details, car rides, etc.
5. Your energy is split between your significant other and guests. This is important for others wanting to spend it with close family and friends.
6. Micro-weddings often come with traditional expectations from family, such as lineups, a family officiant, and family photos.

Jonas and Capture Your Legacy were absolutely fantastic. Not only were they easy to communicate and plan with, but they were extremely genuine and excited to be a part of our big day, which was clearly evident when we received our video back, as it shattered our expectations. The quality of the video and their ability to perfectly capture the best moments of our wedding was beyond outstanding, and we could not be happier to have the ability to re-live it any time we want. Thanks Jonas!

Best Places to Elope in Rocky Mountain National Park
Being a Colorado native and a trusted Colorado Mountain Wedding Photographer for small groups by Expertise, I have listed below places that are great for your elopement in or near the Rocky Mountain National Park, Breckenridge, San Juan Mountains, Durango, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.
Lily Lake
Lily Lake is one of my favorite spots for a "best of both worlds" elopement—it features 360-degree views of Longs Peak and the Mummy Range but is conveniently located just outside the main park entrance. Whether we’re standing on the wooden dock for an intimate ceremony or wandering the accessible trail through golden Aspen groves, the photographic variety here is unmatched. It’s a classic choice for couples who want the grandeur of the Rockies with minimal hiking required.
SkyView at Fall River Village
For the modern couple who wants to be literally "above it all," SkyView offers a sleek, open-air rooftop experience with panoramic views of the Continental Divide. It is the premier choice for a micro-wedding where you want a contemporary aesthetic paired with the wild energy of the Rockies. I specialize in capturing that transition from a bright, airy rooftop ceremony to a high-energy reception as the town lights up below us.

Mary’s Lake
For couples seeking a serene waterfront vibe without the crowds of the national park, Mary’s Lake is a hidden gem right in the heart of Estes Park. Its sandy shoreline and dramatic rocky outcroppings offer a unique texture for your portraits that you won’t find elsewhere in the valley. I love the way the morning light hits the Twin Sisters peaks reflected in the water, providing a stunning, easily accessible backdrop for a quiet sunrise exchange of vows.
Dao House
If your vision includes a weekend-long retreat with a touch of rustic soul, Dao House is where we need to be. This high-altitude sanctuary is nestled between Longs Peak and Twin Sisters, offering a private pond that perfectly mirrors the mountains for your first look. As your photographer, I’ll guide you to the west-facing balconies at blue hour, where the vastness of the mountains feels so close you could touch them, creating a deeply grounded and spiritual atmosphere for your photos.
Della Terra Mountain Chateau
Della Terra is the epitome of mountain luxury, and as an expert in this space, I know exactly how to use its European-inspired architecture to elevate your wedding story. From the intimate Mountain Vista ceremony site surrounded by towering pines to the dramatic, light-filled Great Hall, every inch of this property is designed for high-end photography.
Lake Grandby
Venturing just over the pass, Lake Granby provides a massive, coastal-mountain feel that is perfect for couples who want a grander scale. With its deep blue waters and the jagged Indian Peaks as a backdrop, it’s an incredible spot for a sunset "adventure" session. As your guide, I love using the vast shoreline to create epic, wide-angle shots that showcase the sheer scale of your love against the Colorado wilderness.

Copeland Lake
Tucked away in the less-trafficked Wild Basin area, Copeland Lake is for the couple who truly wants to escape the noise. This location offers a rugged, all-natural ceremony site where the reflection of the surrounding peaks in the still water creates a sense of profound peace. I recommend this spot for adventurous elopements where we can let the landscape speak for itself, focusing on raw, candid moments in one of the park’s quietest corners.
Sundance Mountain
For the ultimate high-altitude experience, Sundance Mountain offers views that will leave you breathless—literally. This is the spot for the adventurous at heart; we’ll use the sweeping alpine tundra and rocky ridges to capture images that feel like they’re at the top of the world. I’ll help you navigate the elements and the light at this elevation to ensure your elopement portraits are as bold and adventurous as your journey together.

If we could give more than 5 stars we would. Capture Your Legacy truly went above and beyond for us and we are so lucky to have found them. So down to earth and kind, yet super professional and definitely know what they’re doing. Very easy to work with. Outstanding communication throughout. We are so excited for our photos.

Whether you are exchanging vows with the Denver skyline in the distance or hosting a refined garden celebration, this venue is a premier choice for couples who value legacy and architectural beauty.
Blackstone Rivers Ranch
For the couple who wants a sophisticated mountain "lodge" feel without the long drive from Denver, Blackstone Rivers Ranch in Idaho Springs is a dream. I specialize in using the ranch’s rugged, wooded surroundings and chic industrial-rustic reception space to capture a story that is both adventurous and deeply comfortable.

Boulder Creek by Wedgewood Weddings
Boulder Creek offers a lush, forest-immersion experience right at the edge of the mountains. The towering pines and the rushing creek create a cinematic atmosphere that is perfect for candid, light-filled photography. I recommend this venue for couples who want a seamless, all-inclusive experience that still feels wild and connected to the natural beauty of the Colorado landscape.
Meadow Creek Bed and Breakfast
Meadow Creek B&B is a hidden gem for intimate weddings and mountain elopements, offering a quiet, historic charm on 34 private acres in Pine. The rustic barn and open meadows provide a peaceful, "home away from home" vibe that allows for a deeply personal and relaxed wedding day. It is one of my favorite spots to capture raw, authentic moments in a setting that feels completely tucked away from the rest of the world.
Lionscrest Manor
Perched on a private hilltop in Lyons, Lionscrest Manor offers some of the most commanding panoramic views of Longs Peak and the surrounding valley. The Victorian-style architecture paired with the vast mountain vistas creates a dramatic, high-contrast aesthetic that I love to lean into during sunset portraits. It’s an ideal location for couples who want a grand, mountaintop feel with the luxury and privacy of a gated estate.
Purgatory Resort
For a true high-altitude mountain experience, Purgatory Resort in Durango offers jaw-dropping views of the San Juan Mountains. Whether you are taking a chairlift to your ceremony site or celebrating in a mountain-side lodge, the scale of the landscape here is unmatched. As an elopement expert, I thrive in this rugged terrain, capturing epic, wide-angle shots that showcase your love at the top of the world.

Tapestry House by Wedgewood Weddings
Tapestry House is a stunning historic manor in Laporte, surrounded by centuries-old lilac bushes and lush, manicured gardens. This venue offers a whimsical, "storybook" quality that is perfect for outdoor ceremonies under a canopy of ancient trees. As an expert in local light, I find the dappled sunshine and vibrant greenery here provide a soft, romantic palette for your wedding portraits.
Trading Post at Red Rocks
The Trading Post at Red Rocks is an iconic Colorado location, offering the world-famous red sandstone monoliths as your wedding guests. The garden area provides a more intimate setting within the park, allowing us to capture the scale of the rocks while maintaining a sense of privacy. It is a must for couples who want their wedding photos to be instantly recognizable as a piece of Colorado’s natural history.
The Broadmoor
The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs is the pinnacle of luxury and world-class service in the Rockies. From the iconic lakefront views to the opulent ballrooms and the rugged beauty of Cheyenne Lodge, this venue offers an endless variety of high-end backdrops. I specialize in navigating this massive estate to find the most exclusive, breathtaking spots that reflect the grandeur of your wedding day.
Holy Ghost Church
Holy Ghost Church is one of Denver’s most stunning architectural landmarks, offering a grand, traditional setting for a Catholic wedding ceremony. The intricate stonework and soaring ceilings provide a sense of reverence and timelessness that is a joy to photograph. I focus on capturing the quiet, sacred moments and the dramatic scale of the architecture to create a gallery that feels both holy and historic.

Brittany Hill by Wedgewood Weddings
Brittany Hill stands out for its unparalleled views of the Denver skyline and the Front Range, making it a premier destination for a city-meets-mountains celebration. The modern, sophisticated interior and the dramatic hilltop ceremony site offer a sleek, high-energy environment for your wedding. I focus on capturing the transition from the golden mountain sunset to the sparkling city lights, providing a diverse and vibrant gallery.
Balistreri Vineyard
Balistreri Vineyard is a family-owned gem that brings a touch of old-world Italian charm to the heart of Denver. The wine cellar and the lush garden ballroom offer a rich, textured backdrop that is perfect for intimate, moody, and romantic photography. It’s a fantastic choice for the couple who loves great wine and wants an elegant, soulful atmosphere for their celebration.
Hearth House
Located in the heart of Monument, Hearth House is a modern-craftsman venue that perfectly balances clean lines with warm, rustic details. Its massive grand hearth and sliding barn doors provide a cozy, focal point for winter weddings, while the outdoor courtyard is ideal for summer vow exchanges. I love the versatility of this space, as it allows us to create a gallery that feels both contemporary and timeless.
Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms
The Green Farm Barn at Chatfield State Park offers a quintessential Colorado farm-to-altar experience, featuring a historic 1918 barn and vast wildflower meadows. This location is perfect for couples who want a rustic yet organized setting, complete with open-air chapels and roaming wildlife. Having worked here frequently, I know the best hidden paths through the gardens to ensure your portraits feel private and uniquely yours.

How do we handle permits for National Parks?
Most National Parks, such as Zion and Rocky Mountain National Park, require a Special Use Permit for ceremonies. Check the website of the national or state park where you want to hold your ceremony and reserve your date.
Do you offer hybrid "Video & Photo" coverage?
Yes, we provide both Photography and Videography! By booking us for both, you get a cohesive creative vision and a smaller, more intimate team on the ground. We also offer a specific "Video & Audio of your vows" add-on to ensure your most personal moments are preserved with high-quality sound.
What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
Our policy is rain or shine. We are prepared for all conditions unless the National Park Service advises of actual danger. Moody clouds and rain often create the most cinematic and editorial-style images, and we have the professional gear to keep shooting safely.
Can we include family members in our elopement?
Absolutely! While elopements are more intimate, you are welcome to bring your dog or a trusted friend or family member to assist. If you want a larger group, we suggest a micro-wedding approach where we capture a small ceremony before heading off for your private adventure session.
How far in advance should we book for international destinations?
For our 2026 international dates—including Spain, Portugal, Croatia, and Italy—we recommend booking at least 8–12 months in advance. This gives us enough time to coordinate travel logistics and scout the best hidden locations for your session.
Can we customize our own travel destination ?
Definitely, while our 2026 calendar shows where we’ll be—like Spain and Portugal in July or Italy in September—we are nomadic at heart and travel nine months out of the year. If you have a specific dream location outside of our current schedule, get in touch, and we can likely make it happen.
How do we handle transportation and crowds in busy locations?
While we do become your guide, photographer, and videographer, it's great to have a family member or friend serve as a designated driver in crowded areas where we can hop off, they find parking, and we reunite on the trail.
Are you connected with talented vendors?
Yes! Over the years, we've developed excellent relationships with vendors whom we now consider friends from all the states & countries we've worked in. You name it, we'll have someone in mind. If they're unavailable, we can find a new vendor referral and introduce you.
